Meet the Team - Greg Hodge CAD DESIGNER & SURVEYOR
Is there a typical day in your role?
“A typical day would be to consult our Job tracker in the morning to see what jobs need to be done in order of priority, or pick up work from the previous day ready to be sent out to clients once finished. Communication with our clients with job updates also comes into play throughout the day.”
How important do you feel the CAD industry is to society?
“Well its an evolution of the traditional pencil and draft paper tool set, so naturally with the technological revolution, old methods would be digitised to make things more accessible between clients and businesses. Architect Drawings are a legal requirement for buildings to be built so without CAD, no new builds!“
What is the most rewarding aspect of your work?
“As a creative minded person, I really enjoy the drawing aspect. I can add my own flare whilst also maintaining the drawing standards. I also like the office setting, we can work and conversate, swap ideas and help each other out when needed.“
What are some of the interesting/exciting things about your role in the CAD industry?
“There is always more to learn in the world of CAD with the vast array of software and courses available”
What do you like about the functionality of the team?
“We can have a laugh and chat whilst getting our work done, and no one is afraid to ask for assistance if needed, it is generally a relaxed environment“
What do you see in the future of CAD?
“I suppose it will evolve as technology advances, I can imagine a more collaborative workspace in the future now that AR and VR are becoming more prevalent.“
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
“Animation and Illustration on PC, making music, video games, listening to audiobooks/podcasts and watching movies”
Finally, what work are you most proud of?
“I really like how my 3D navigation packs turned out, especially as I am mostly self-taught in 3D modelling. It was nice to bring that into a more professional setting“
