Meet The Team - Daniel Ceaton the Managing Director of Casado Design

Is there a typical day in your role?

My typical day has evolved as the company has developed and my role has moved away from producing GA’s on CAD to a much more management and QA based role. Typically replying to client queries, producing tender documents, QA checking and developing processes for the company.

How important do you feel the CAD industry is to society?

I believe a majority of society generally wouldn’t know what CAD was if you asked them in the street. But like most things in engineering people generally don’t know how much of an important tool in telecoms, construction and the planning industry on a whole it is. But I feel as a company we must keep up with the changes of this technology.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your work?

Knowing that All the effort we put into the company on a daily basis affects us all on a personal level. Being a small company, we only get out what we put in. and when we have a success it’s because we all worked hard to make it so and that is very rewarding.

What are some of the interesting/exciting things about your role in the CAD industry?

I would like to see the company expand into more 3D and visualisation aspects of CAD, possibly in the building sector and store fitouts. It would be interesting to engage in something a little more artistic on a more frequent basis.

What do you like about the functionality of the team?

I’ve always liked and thought it was one of the company’s main strengths that there is a lot of overlap in our abilities as a team which helps us to meet our daily requirements. I also enjoy the fact we have more fun in the office more often than not.

What do you see in the future of CAD?

A move to more laser mapping 3D modelling on sites rather than 2D plans and elevations. This technology is already being implemented in telecoms in a small scale, but it would be good to get involved as it moves on quickly

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

A bit of socialising with friends and family. I also enjoy being outdoors as much as possible wild camping, kayaking etc. most often it turns into a Bear Grylls style day out with the kids and Sian and we all get lost in the woods… Oh, and a bit of gin thrown in on the side.

Finally, what work are you most proud of?

From a visual aspect I really liked the 3D work we did for Human Scale in Shanghai. But I think our involvement in the renewable energy sector is something to be proud of as it is having an ongoing positive effect on the community, the environment and society as a whole. I would like to see the day when the UK is powered 100%of the time by 100% renewable energy, as other countries in the EU. We take this as a serious goal so we support this by supporting power supply firms that only supply electricity generated from 100% renewable sources, both in work and at home.
